Beach Erosion

After reading the following post, please explain to me what is beach erosion?

California Coast

What is beach erosion?  WHat are they trying to do in California?  Would you be willing to help in these efforts?

  1. Beach erosion is the wearing away of the sand on the beaches. California beaches are experiencing this. The houses and developments that exist on the beach are actually contributing to the beach erosion. The buildings on the beach hampered the natural process of sand being pulled out to sea and then placed back on the coast.
In California, they are trying to let sand dunes build up. This would create a natural barrier between houses and the ocean. Also, a parking lot and bike path is being ripped up and moved farther away from the sea. This will give the ocean some more room to "breathe".
I would definitely be willing to help in these efforts if I could. This is because beach erosion could eventually cause there to be less beaches, and I know that a lot of people enjoy going to beaches for fun and for swimming. Also, it is a natural land area, and it shouldn't suffer because of us humans.

Beach erosion is were ocean water carries away sand and destroys beaches. California is trying to put up sea walls to prevent this but it only stops sand being carried by rivers from getting to the beach. So California is trying to stop putting up sea walls and take down the existing ones. We would help in these efforts because something needs to be done.

A beach erosion is a alteration is a river that carries sand to the beaches. They are trying to fix California's beaches and houses. Yes I would be willing to help these efforts so, they could have a better home and living environment.

  4. Beach erosion is when the water from the beach carries the sand away and eventually erodes away all the sand, and destroy's beaches. They were trying to put up sea walls to keep sand from being carried away but now they changed there minds and they are going to take down the walls that have been put up. I would just keep putting sand on the beach, it wouldn't really solve the problem but it would give us a little bit more time to come up with a better idea. What would happen if all the sand and the rocks underneath it eroded away. Would the coast just drift away.

Beach erosion is when water from the beach carries away the sand and destroys the beach.A portion of the California coast is actively eroding due to complex oceanographic and geologic conditions and human activities. California is trying to fix all the houses and the area around it. To prevent beach erosion they are letting the sand dunes pile up and it stands as a natural barrier. We think its a good idea because it will protect some of the people.

  7. Beach Erosion is when the water from that beach carries away sand. This usually ends up destroying the beach.
