Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina occurred in 2005 and most of you probably don't recall much about it because you were so young.  This hurricane caused much destruction down in New Orleans.  Watch the following video to see day by day what happened.   This is a video produced my National Geographic. Some of you may find this a bit too much to watch.  You may turn away at any time.  Watch it and tell me what you think.

We think that it is crazy that in such a shirt amount of time something can cause so much damage. We are also amazed because we know that this happened awhile ago and repairs are still going on.

We think this video is kind of interesting but, there are some parts that we find really upsetting. We kind this video very sad and disturbing, especially at the part when they showed the people on the roofs and in the water. We can't imagine how the people would feel because the damage was really bad.

(short*) We are amazed at how long it's taking to actually repair everything and get it back to normal. We wonder how the people must have felt to have their homes destroyed.

  4. I think that it is terrible that such a large-scale hurricane caused so much damage. The fact that it continued to get worse over the couple of days makes it even more terrible, but at least a lot of New Orleans' citizens were able to evacuate.

  5. I found that this video was very sad and I think that they shouldn't have shown any thematic material. I was astounded by the damage and destruction that Hurricane Katrina caused to New Orleans. I hope that a storm like Katrina never hits New Orleans again (because my cousin lives there.)

  6. We thought it was very sad. We think it was very unnecessary to show the dead body. We thought it was also sad to see peoples homes destroyed and the stranded homeless people. It was a devistating thing and we're sorry it happened.

  7. That was so sad! I hope that the city of New Orleans has recovered. I am glad that we don't have hurricanes here. I hope that there is never another disaster that horrible. I do not want to move to a coastal area.

  9. @ Brynn and Abby...
I do not feel that it was unnecessary to show the corpse. It added meaning, but it was very gross. However, the people who suffered the hurricane had to live with that for several days, and they new the victims.

  10. I think that suffering from a hurricane might have started a new generation for New Orleans, especially when thousands of lives were lost.-Dominic Deutsch
