End of the 1st Quarter!

It's hard to believe we have already completed the first quarter!
What has been your favorite part of your science class this year?  What was your favorite activity we have done?   What is something you wish we could have done in our space unit that we did not?  Is there anything you would have changed or done differently?  Leave your thoughts.

Thanks for your input!

Our favorite part of science we agree was blogging and doing labs. We learned a lot from doing so. Our favorite was when we did our space unit and we turned the lights off and learned the phases of the moon. Another thing we liked was when we did the planet surface mystery box. We wish we would have learned more about the other planets and stars. The three of us agree that we should have had open discussions more often.

  2. We think that the blogging, but we liked the parts that had to do with arts and crafts the best, so we probably would have added more.

Are favorite part was blogging. Are favorite activity was making a elevation graph. We wish we could have done more experiments. We should have done less reading and do more activities.

  5. My favorite thing we did this year was galaxies and blogging because galaxies was interesting and blogging was fun and easy. I don't really have a favorite activity because all of them were alright. I wish we did something with the planets because we didn't do much of that. I think the only thing I would change is that we would do more activity's.

  6. Wade and me both really liked blogging this year. Are favorite activity was blogging also. In our space unit we would have really liked to create a solar system. We would not change anything about the first quarter.

  7. @Bryant Winters and Matthew Murphy I also think we should have done more activity's and less reading because then it would be more fun.

  8. My favorite part of science so far this year was watching the video about all of the moons in our solar system. I think that it is really cool that there are so many moons in the universe and that we could do so many things that we can't do here, on those distant places.

My favorite activity was the "Planet Surface mystery" activity. I though that it was a lot if fun because we had to guess what the surface looked like without actually seeing it, and we were able to make a colored map of its surface.

One thing that I wish we could have done was making a moon video. We could have used a regular camera to take pictures of the moon each night, and then we could have "flipped" through the pictures to make it seem like the moon was going through all of its phases really fast.

One thing that I would have done differently is I would have taken notes more often. Every once in a while we looked at a power-point and wrote down definitions and facts. I would have done that more often, so we would know the definitions a little better.

Did you two like anything other than blogging? Both me and Bryant agree we should have made a solar system.

We liked learning about galaxies the most. We both liked the Planet Surface Mystery Box and coloring in the data to make a map. We think it would have been fun if we had gone to a science center during the space unit. We liked the unit and wouldn't change anything except maybe a trip to a science center.

  12. My favorite thing that we did this year was the bloging. My favorite activity we did was holding the styrafoam moon on a pencil. I wish we could have made a rocket and launched it off.

  13. My favorite activity we did last quarter was the phases of the moon activity. It was the one with the light in the center of the table and it was dark and we had the little moons on sticks. That was my favorite part of science class as well. I would not have the stop, think, anwers cause I think they are boring. There is nothing i wish we could do that we haven't done.

  20. My favorite activity was the Phases of the Moon. My favorite part of science class was definatly not the stop, think, answer. I don't really know if I have a favorite part of class. I would not have the stop, think, answer if I could change class. I wish we could have learned about another galaxy. I've always wanted to know about a whole nother galaxy. If there's billions of galaxies, There could be a whole nother planet with human kind.

  22. My favorite part of science was the hands on activities. My favorite activity was when we had the giant glowing sun in our class room and we could see the phases of the moon. We should have had a giant camp out on a clear night and observe the star threw a telescope. There is nothing i would have changed. It was a lot of fun.

I think that the phases of the moon activity was a lot of fun as well. I enjoyed seeing exactly what causes the phases of the moon. It is better to actually see how something works then to just here about it.

It is really hard to belive that the end of the quarter is already here! Our favorite part of the quarter was when we watched the movie about the planets and their moons. Our favorite activity was when we acted out the moon phases and we acted like we were Earth and the light bulb was the sun. We think that it would have been really cool if we could have done a project and create the solar system. We would have changed the way we did the worksheet on the moon phases and we had to write down what the moon phases looked like. The best part is the bloging because we think that it was a great way to start of the week.

Me and Sarah agreed that blogging was our favorite thing. Yes the first quarter has gone by really fast. Our favorite activity was the stick that you had to put into the box and measure how far it went down. Something that we wished we could have done in our space activity is a solar system project. We could change the stop and think answers also how long they take.

  36. Katherine: I really liked the blogging it gives everyone a chance to share thoughts and tell what they think. I like the way Mrs. Hoffman teaches very well, she sticks to the program and does a good job with ideas and methods for teaching.
Bailee: I really LOVE blogging and wish we could do it every day. I agree with Kat about Mrs. Hoffman and her teaching. I do wish we could have done a big project with a partner or individually. But in class, the send home science projects aren't as fun and harder since there is no one around to ask.(mom and dad won't know. They studied this stuff ages ago.)The projects that are big and colorful that you need creativity and imagination. FUN!

We do find it hard to believe that first quarter, but we can't wait for the next 3 to be over, too! Sydney's favorite part of Science so far was learning about the moon phases (again:)). Lexi's favorite part of Science so far was learning about the planets and their moons. She liked learning about their terrain and such. Our favorite activity so far has been suface thing with the popsicle stickand the coloring. We wish that we could've had more indegth learning of the galaxies around ours, and not just the different types of galaxies. We would have changed the temputure in the room. WE'RE FREEZING! Our favorite part of science class this year was the "7 Deadliest Seas" video where we went back in time and looked at all the creatures that used to lurk in the sea, I would have loves to see the rest but we only finished the 6th one. Our favorite activities were the moon phases activity where we had our own moon and we "revolved" around earth causing our phases, our next favorite activity was the topographical map, we like the coloring part most. We wished we could have done more labs that involved more chemicals or hands on things like, we could have done a lab on how the moon was made or something. We would have changed science so we had a few more fun activities like hands on stuff.
