What is rock?

How are rocks different from minerals?  Click on the link below and tell me what the three categories  of rocks are and how are they formed.  How long have rocks been around?  Are the rock on the moon like the rocks on the earth?

  1. Minerals are made of elements & crystals unlike rocks, which are divided into three types. They have also been here for over four billion years & appear in different forms.-Dominic Deutsch

  2. Rocks are made of minerals. The three types of rocks are sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic. Sedimentary is formed when sediment piles on top of itself in a river and hardens into rock. Igneous is made when magma comes to the surface and hardens. Metamorphic rock is formed when rocks underground melt together under high heat and pressure. Rocks have been around forever. The rocks on the moon are the same as Earth because it is believed that at one time the moon was part of the Earth and has some of the same rocks.

  4. The three main types of rocks are igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. Igneous is formed when magma is pushed to the surface and cools as a hard rock. Sedimentary is formed underwater when sediments and debris sit in the bottom of a river or stream and eventually it forms into a hard surface.Metamorphic is formed when rocks underground have a lot of pressure and heat put on them. The difference of minerals and rocks are, that rocks are something and minerals are what build rocks. Rocks have been around for millions and millions of years and rocks on earth and mars have a lot of the same composition in them.
