Satellite crashes to Earth

When did this satellite fall back onto Earth?  Where did it hit?  What else did you learn about this satellite when reading this article?  Would you have been afraid it might hit you or your house had you known it was falling?
Leave your thoughts.

  1. Scientists think the satellite fell into the Pacific Ocean, sometime between late Friday night and early Saturday morning. I learned that the biggest piece of the satellite that survived weighed about 300 pounds.

If I knew the satellite was coming at me, or my house, I would be very afraid. I would because I would hear a lot about the satellite and how big it was, and that the location where it was supposed to end up was unknown.

It hit between Friday and Saturday, and landed in the Pacific Ocean. Its as big as a bus and weighs 6 tons. Yes because they said some of the pieces that had fallen off are really sharp and on fire.

  3. This satlite came back to earth on friday/saturday. it hit the pacific ocean and north america. No one knows for shore
I would be scared if a flying on fire object was coming toward me i would know what to do i i think it would be funny

  4. That is cool how a satellite fell to earth. It fell sometime between Friday and Saturday somewhere either in the Pacific or Alberta, Canada. I learned that it died awhile ago and weighed a substantial amount. Although I would not be nervous because it wouldn't be to heavy but it would be cool to have a satellite in my backyard.

  6. I think it's weird how a satelite just suddenly falls out of the sky after 20 years of being up there, I also think it's really goods how the satellite isin't going to crash into any land, but I hope none is going baoting around there otherwise they're probably going to get smooshed.

    I that is pretty scary

  8. The satellite feel to earth sometime between very late Friday night and very early Saturday morning. The satellite hit Earth in the Pacific Ocean, But if it had been 5 minutes off it would have hit the U.S.A. I also learned that the largest surviving chunk should be no bigger than 300 pounds and that the satellite ran out of fuel and died in 2005. If I lived on the western coast of the U.S.A. I would have been very scared that the satellite would have hit me or my house, I mean, who wouldn't. But I don't live on the western coast, so I wouldn't have been scared.

  9. It landed in the Pacific Ocean they think. They hope it didn't hit land and there have been no reports that anyone has been injured from the fall. They think around Friday evening or Saturday morning.

I don't think that you would know where the shrapnel would land and if you did you would probably make it out in time instead of getting roasted or impaled.

    Mrs Hoffman,
It fell around 11:50 p.m. and 1:09 a.m. NASA thinks that it fell in the Pacific ocean along the west coast of the U.S. That if the satellite would have fallen 5 minutes later that it could have landed inland along the west coast. Well if it had a chance of landing around where I live I would be terrified. But since it landed on the west coast I wouldn't freak out.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The satellite fell between 11:23 PM Friday and 1:09 AM Saturday. They predict it likely hit in the ocean but they are not sure if it fell even five minutes later than the estimated time it could have hit the U.S. I learned that it was 32 feet long and weighs and all 26 pieces weighed 1200 pounds all together. I wouldn't be afraid because there is a 1 in 22 trillion chance it would hit you and their are only 7 billion people in the world.

The 20 year old fell on 11:23 pm on Saturday or Friday. It fell into the pacific ocean. It is as big as a bus and it wieghs 6 tons. If I knew that the satellite was coming towards me I would be scared and I would move away from my house as soon as possible and I would run.

This satelite fell back on to Earth on Friday night and early Saturday morning. Scientists think that it hit the pacific ocean. I learned that satellites can be very big and dangerous because it could fall and hit something or someone. I would have been scared it would have hit me or my house because it would have exploded. That is very dangerous.

It landed around 1:09 Friday. It could have possibly landed in the ocean. This satellite could do a lot of damage to houses because it is the size of a bus. Yes i would afraid because if the scientists were 5 minutes off of there timing to judge where it was going to land, it could do some serious damage.

  25. @ Jalynn Johnson I would disagree because if a piece of a satellite was coming at me even if it did hit me or anyone else they wouldn't feel it because you would die instantly and get burned to ashes.

  28. The satellite fell to Earth between late Friday night and early Saturday morning. The satellite hit Earth around in the Pacific Ocean, but no one knows exactly where. In the article, it said that if the satellite had been five minutes off, it would have hit on (or near) the Western Coast of the United States. From the article, I learned that if you would happen to find any debris from the satellite, you wouldn't be able to keep or sell it because it is Government property and you could probably be arrested if you were found in possession of any of the bits of satellite. If I lived on the Western Coast of the United States, I probably wouldn't be scared for any of the debris to hit my or my friend's house because there would be a very very slim chance that ANY of it would hit my house. I think that the odds would be very much against me (to be hit by a satellite, I mean). Don't you guys all agree??????

We disagree with brooke and taylor because we dont think we would die cause the sattelite has a slim chance of hitting our home and even if it came close i think it would just destroy our houses but i dont think we would die. and we dont live near the pacific ocean, the only chance of us dying is if it hits us directly on which is one in 320,000 of a chance. Also we would have time to evacuate and go somewere else while we can.

  108. @W!ll $m!th: It landed in the ocean so I'm sure it wouldn't hit you so your not going to die. And I think they said if it was timed wrong it would have landed in a big city here in the U.S along with the little pieces that fell off. I don't think they have Satellite insurance but they may have astriod protection!:D I'm just glad it over and we don't have to worry about 6 tons of metal flying over our house.

We hope that the satellite fell into the pacific ocean and not somewhere where nobody can find it or get hurt. Like said in the passage, the metal used for it should be returned to NASA, so if it was lost in the middle of nowhere, nobody would find it, then again if it lands in the ocean it would be harder to find it but at least no one would have a chance of getting hurt by it.

  124. well scientists believe that a satilite came back to earth between friday night at 11:23 between saturday at 1:09. they say that it has crashed in the pacific ocean. well i say if i knew that and i was any where near there that i would be scared. i would probably be scared because im in that area where its happenmeing and its falling from outside of space. you know if that hits us or ground u could die because if it hits ground an explosion could happen but if it hits you ur automatically dead no reasoning about it. also because you know if you drop a penny from the eiffel tower and hits you in the head you lose contiousness and a satelite hitting you with full force out of space umm yaa im going to be scared. so lets hope everyone is cool and ok and another one dont fall(-:. so anyways i wonder how it fell if like they found the satelite or a captured video something!

The satellite happened on Friday-Saturday between 11:23p.m.-1:09a.m.It is located in the upper atmosphere in Alberta, Canada North of the settle and continued Atlantic South toward Africa and ended where it started falling over the Pacific. We learned that 26 pieces have 1,200 pounds(544 kilograms)and the largest chunk of satellite was 300 pounds (136 kilograms). If a satellite hit our houses we would be a scared because we would probably have no where to live and we would probably have to buy all kinds of new things like cloths shoes and we wouldn't have that much food and something to drink
